Thirteen Community Leaders with Ties to °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ Honored

Thirteen community leaders who have ties to °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ have been selected for inclusion in the 2020 class of 40 Under Forty in central Illinois.

Since 1993,  has recognized the rising young stars of central Illinois. This year is no exception. 

At °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ, we are proud to especially celebrate the thirteen community leaders who have ties to our institution. Be sure to click their names to learn more. 

  •  – A proud and engaged alumna of °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ, Ball serves as a board member of the Braves Club and its Bid for the Braves Auction Committee, helping to raise funds for °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ Athletics.
  •  – Not only does Ball serve as the chief enrollment officer at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ, he also serves on the University Senate’s Strategic Planning Committee, Admission and Retention Committee, President’s Cabinet, Academic Council, General Education Revision Committee, and NCAA Ethnic Diversity in Athletics Committee, among others.
  •  – Braet is an alumna of °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ.
  •  – As a student at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ, Brodeur served as treasurer and Small Business Leadership Council representative in the Society for Human Resource Management. Active with the Sigma Chi fraternity, he has continued his service as treasurer of the Sigma Chi Building Association, a nonprofit responsible for maintaining housing for the undergraduate chapter at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ.
  •  – Diana’s community focus started when he was still a student at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ, volunteering for a service program to beautify the community and pick up trash in neighborhoods near campus.
  •  – Marchand was selected to participate in a 10-month executive strategy program at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ.
  •  – Martin received an MFA in studio art from °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ, excelling in the mediums of graphic design, printmaking and installation. Now an adjunct professor at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ, he teaches a range of art history and studio art classes. 
  •  – Menold is an alumnus of °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ.
  •  – A classically trained ballet and jazz dancer, Miller has performed in local theater and was a member of the °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ dance team.
  •  – Dr. Sokonie Siah Reed is an assistant professor of nursing at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ, instructing students in both the classroom and clinical settings. The first African American to earn three degrees from °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ while maintaining a full-time teaching assignment, she blends the roles of leader, nurse educator and community volunteer in seamless fashion.
  •  – Roth mentors student leaders at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ.
  •  – Uhlenbrock is an alumni board member of the °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ Financial Management Association. He was named the Finance Graduate of the Year at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ and received the Douglas Thorson Outstanding Scholar in Economics Award, going on to earn his MBA at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ.
  •  – A Silver Life member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, Thomas has been active with the Peoria NAACP branch, even rechartering the °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ chapter.
