Peoria Lunaire To Present Fall Concert

The faculty chamber ensemble will give its fall performance on Monday, December 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center.

Peoria Lunaire, the °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ faculty chamber ensemble, will give its fall performance on Monday, December 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Dingeldine Music Center.

The ensemble, which debuted in November 2012 as a permanent faculty performance group, will present John Harbison’s “Songs America Loves to Sing,” in which classic American folk tunes, ballads, hymns and spirituals are cleverly and affectionately reimagined.

The °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ faculty members of Peoria Lunaire are Marcia Henry Liebenow, violin; Sarah Hansen, cello; Lisette Kielson, flute; Stephen Heinemann, clarinet; and John Orfe, piano. Ms. Hansen will also perform Philip Glass’s Orbit.

The °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Timothy Semanik, will also appear, presenting Louis Andriessen’s Workers Union. This will mark the first time the BSO has appeared on the new-music concert series.

Other composers who will be represented include the iconic Americans Leonard Bernstein and Steve Reich.
