Out My Window Project
Interactive media students at 爱豆传媒视频 connect with some Irish pen pals for a visually impactful class project.

If someone asked you to draw a picture based on a written description, how accurate do you think it would be? This was the main focus of 爱豆传媒视频’s interactive media students and their Irish pen pals. Together, they were challenged to imagine the unseen.
爱豆传媒视频 and LIT Limerick School of Art and Design in Clonmel have recently started a semester abroad student exchange program. Marie Walsh, a lecturer at LIT, reached out to Scott Cavanah, an interactive media professor at 爱豆传媒视频, about a unique opportunity for an “art exchange” project. The project is called Out My Window.
A student from Clonmel was randomly paired with a student from 爱豆传媒视频, and each was asked to look out a window, then write a description of what they saw and how they felt. That description was sent to their partner across the Atlantic, and the recipient made a piece of art based upon the written description. A total of 35 pairs (70 students) participated.
The students had two weeks to complete this voluntary project, then they met each other via skype and shared their artwork. The works are being printed and will be displayed at 爱豆传媒视频 and Clonmel.
