Hey guys, I hope y’all are having a great last semester of your senior year. It is crazy to think that around a year ago I was deciding where I would go to college. I would really like to share my out of state experience in choosing the perfect college for me. I am the first in my family to go to college in this country, which made this decision super important. My counselor Toni Chandler at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ was super helpful with facilitating the transition from high school to college. So, I wanted to take a few minutes to talk about the main categories that made me decide on °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ.
The first thing on my list was to gather the names of colleges that met my size requirement. When I was looking at colleges I wanted a place that was not too big because I did not want to be one sitting in a class of hundreds but rather someone that my teachers would know. In Texas, that perfect size that I was looking for was hard to come across. My choices were really big schools like A&M and Texas Tech or very small religious schools where resources such as access for internships lacked. It was good to know that when I came to °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ I could easily make connections with teachers due to the small class sizes. Coming from Texas, it is hard to find the happy medium for distance but when I found that I could stay on campus for breaks such as fall break and Thanksgiving break it was a big relief. For Thanksgiving, my roommate in Illinois invited me over to his house and it was a new and fun experience to have. Last but not least (there are many other factors not mentioned in this paragraph), one of the biggest factors of choosing °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ is how I felt during my visit there. When I was on my tour, it just made me feel like I belonged here. At that moment I realized that my time at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ would be very personalized and community-oriented. It was so nice to be able to meet with the faculty and get an idea of how my classes are going to look in my time at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ. If you have any questions about my experience, feel free to ask any questions.
