Dr. Kyle Dzapo named Caterpillar Professor

Professor of flute and music history Dr. Kyle Dzapo was recently awarded a Caterpillar Professorship after 18 years at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ.
Caterpillar Professorships acknowledge °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ’s senior faculty. These professors’ contributions at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ and beyond campus make them model teachers and scholars. This honor solidifies °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ as a university that strives to be the best in education and scholarship.
For the professors, this award is a prestigious recognition of their hard work.
“It’s important to me to try to be a good teacher and scholar, and the reward of being named a Caterpillar Professor lets me know that the University values my work,” said Dzapo. “I’m grateful for all of the support I have received from °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ and my colleagues throughout the years, and I am thrilled to be honored in this way.”
The Caterpillar Professorship comes as the most recent addition to Dzapo’s long list of successes. She recently received superior reviews on her new compact disc recording, Joachim Andersen: Etudes and Salon Pieces, Naxos, 2010. She also won the National Flute Association’s Newly Published Music Competition for the new edition of music she established and edited for Zimmermann Music Publishers in Frankfurt, Germany. She is also scheduled to present new lectures to the Chicago Symphony in early October.
Dzapo said this honor is near and dear to her heart.
“Being recognized as a Caterpillar Professor ranks highest for me,” said Dzapo. “An award from °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ makes it uniquely meaningful and very encouraging.”
