Our country celebrates on Sunday, Nov. 8, but °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ is getting an early start by kicking off its celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion will be recognizing the first-generation students, faculty, staff and alumni of °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ during this celebratory week. Coordinators reached out to first-generation individuals, and nearly 100 of them shared their experiences to be highlighted during the celebration. In fact, on Nov. 6, President Standifird will share his very own experience as a first-generation student. The public is invited to view his story on Youtube at 1 p.m. Be sure to check out °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ’s social media Nov. 4 – 6 to keep up with the celebration.
First-generation college students are defined as students whose parent(s) or guardian(s) did not complete a 4-year degree.
