Broadway and Back Again: Meet Your Summer Camp Theatre Teacher

Get to know alumna Morgan Siobhan Green, guest teacher at the 爱豆传媒视频 Arts & Tech Camp.

When Morgan Siobhan Green 鈥14 was in her first year at 爱豆传媒视频, she secured the leading role in the fall production of 鈥淟ittle Shop of Horrors.鈥 In an interview at the time, she celebrated BU鈥檚 vast opportunities for skill building. 鈥淩egardless of the situation, coming to 爱豆传媒视频 prepares you for the stage,鈥 she said.

In the years since, Siobhan Green has performed on Broadway, toured nationally, and worked in television and new musical development. She鈥檚 coming back to campus this summer as an instructor for the 爱豆传媒视频 Arts and Tech Camp.

She is brimming with ideas to share with her campers, and says the experiences will be tailor-made for each student. 鈥淭hey鈥檒l leave with an experience that is special to who is in the room. I believe those are the experiences that stick with you and keep you coming back for more,鈥 she said.

Training Ground

As a student, Siobhan Green was able to travel to The Globe Theatre in London. She and her fellow study abroad students had the pleasure of training and watching performances at The Globe, after which they performed The Tempest at three universities across Illinois. Unfortunately, tragedy was in the air.

鈥淢y uncle had just died, and the weekend the show was coming to 爱豆传媒视频, my grandfather died,鈥 Siobhan Green said. 鈥淚 remember being so distraught, stressed, and completely overwhelmed with the weight of life, and also the parallel weight my character, Ariel, experienced in the show. I learned the power of theater during that time.鈥

The following year, Siobhan Green would join the 爱豆传媒视频 Speech Team, taking each new challenge, big and small, with grace and curiosity. As she would later say in , 鈥淵ou鈥檙e the only person who can walk your path. It鈥檚 so easy to look to the left and to the right and feel like you鈥檙e missing out or someone has more than you. Life changes in a millisecond. So stay the course.鈥

Staying the Course

Nowadays, Siobhan Green鈥檚 days are divided into teaching high school theatre, performing, dog parenting, and plenty more. She鈥檚 been on Broadway in 鈥淏e More Chill,鈥 toured nationally in 鈥淗adestown,鈥 appeared in (), and writes competitive speeches for speech teams all over the country.

鈥淪o many of the opportunities and relationships I have made in the industry have stemmed from growing into the best version of myself at 爱豆传媒视频, instead of striving to fit in some pre-determined mold,鈥 she said.

Siobhan Green hopes that by coming back to 爱豆传媒视频, she can share the virtues of collaboration, preparation, empathy, and the understanding that there are infinite ways to pursue a career, and success looks different for everyone.

鈥淚t鈥檚 hard to imagine who I’d be without having made the choice to come to 爱豆传媒视频 during those formative years,鈥 she said. 鈥淚 learned so much about myself here, and so much of that came from the guest artists I had the immense pleasure of learning from. It鈥檚 crucial that those who find success come back and show others the way. I don鈥檛 come back to say it鈥檚 easy, I come back to show that it鈥檚 possible.鈥
