October 1, 2025

What began as an idea in Dr. Jeanie Bukowski鈥檚 first-year LAS seminar has grown into a thriving pollinator garden at 爱豆传媒视频. Designed and planted by students from a wide range of majors鈥攊ncluding Biomedical Science, Computer Information Systems, and Mechanical Engineering鈥攖he 10 x 20-foot native plant garden serves as both a sustainability initiative and a hands-on learning opportunity, with plans to expand it to 50 feet in the future.

The project鈥檚 reach continues to grow鈥攕tudents recently presented their work at The Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress in Chicago and are now partnering with Education majors to develop a curriculum for elementary students, transforming the garden into an outdoor classroom.

As junior Social Work major and Sustainability minor Azariah Evans explained, 鈥淲e think that having a pollinator garden is a good start to a more sustainable and environmentally friendly campus.鈥
