The Illinois Board of Higher Education has awarded °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ $46,501 as part of the Illinois Cooperative Work Study Program. For the third consecutive year, °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ has received the highest dollar amount awarded.

The Illinois Board of Higher Education has awarded °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ $46,501 as part of the Illinois Cooperative Work Study Program. For the third consecutive year, °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ has received the highest dollar amount awarded.
Dawn Koeltzow, Director of the Springer Center for Internships at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ, says the grant will be used to develop local internships and create partnerships with potential employers of °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ graduates. “We are proud to receive this grant for the 23rd consecutive year. It will support 49 different internship placements and help support work experiences for students in academic programs of health, business, computer information, engineering, science, math, and education.”
A recent study showed °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ’s experiential learning rate for the 2012-12013 graduating class was 96% and 84% of the graduates participated in a career-related experience program such as an internship.
“An abundance of high-impact internships are available to our students that provide career-building opportunities and prepare them for future success,” said °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ President Joanne Glasser. “We are pleased that our quality internship program, an essential and vital component of experiential learning at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ, is once again recognized by the Illinois Board of Higher Education.”
Some of the participating employers in °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓƵ’s internship program include W. D. Boyce Council, Crittenton Centers, Farnsworth Group, Goodwill Industries of Central Illinois, Hanson Professional Services, Heart of Illinois United Way, MultiAd, OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria Chamber of Commerce, Peoria Riverfront Museum, RLI, Corp., and United Facilities.
The Illinois Cooperative Work Study Program provides grants to both public and independent colleges and universities and is designed to enhance public-private sector partnerships, expand internship opportunities, reduce student reliance on loans, encourage permanent employment of graduates in Illinois, and provide links between academic programs and employment.
