°®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ Business Students Inducted Into Beta Gamma Sigma

Business honor society welcomes its 2016 members

The recently honored students who were inducted into business honor society Beta Gamma Sigma at an April 17 ceremony on campus.

is the premier international honor society serving business programs accredited by International.

To be eligible for invitation, students must be:

  • Second-semester sophomores and rank in the upper 10 percent of their class;
  • Upper 10 percent of the junior or senior class; or
  • Upper 20 percent of master’s class

“Students inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma represent the best of the best, the highest achieving students in AACSB accredited business schools,” Dean said. “We are proud to have such an excellent group of inductees this year; the best in our Foster College of Business.”

Following the ceremony and dinner, IBM STG Sales Executive George Burek, MBA ’84, was the keynote speaker for the evening. Burke has worked at IBM for the past 32 years in a variety of sales management executive and leadership positions. He also teaches part-time at °®¶¹´«Ã½ÊÓÆµ in the Department of . Burek talked about the importance of values as a foundation for successful leadership. He concluded with emphasizing the importance of giving back as part of that foundation.

“Being inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest honor a business student can achieve internationally,” faculty advisor and Caterpillar Inc. Professor of Strategic Management, , said. “Only the top business schools have BGS chapters, and only the stop students in those schools are inducted into the organization.”
