Athletic trainers (ATs) work under the direction of a physician to provide preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. In addition to high school, collegiate, and professional sports, they work in a diverse array of clinical settings and are expanding into occupational/industrial medicine, physician practices and hospitals, rehabilitation clinics, military readiness and injury risk prevention programs.
